About the Academy

Learn Hair Restoration Surgery in a Specialist Clinical Environment

Hair transplantation combines medical assessment, surgical skill, aesthetic judgement and long-term clinical planning. Learning the sequence of a procedure is only one part of developing in the specialty. Doctors must also understand why a particular approach is chosen, how it should be adapted to the individual patient and when surgery may not be appropriate.

Berkeley Hair Transplant Academy has been established to give doctors structured access to the knowledge, clinical reasoning and practical experience of Berkeley Hair Clinic's surgical faculty.

Our programmes range from a one-day group introduction to private surgical shadowing, intensive five-day clinical training and extended bespoke programmes. Training may combine presentations, case discussions, workshops, live surgical observation, practical skills development and, where appropriate, supervised clinical participation.

The Academy is designed for:

  • Doctors considering a future career in hair restoration surgery
  • Doctors seeking a detailed introduction before committing to longer training
  • Existing hair transplant doctors looking to refine particular skills
  • International doctors seeking observational education within a UK clinic
  • Doctors requiring a personalised or extended programme of development

No previous hair transplant experience is required for the Foundation Day or private observership programmes.

Why Berkeley

Experience That Extends Beyond the Classroom

Berkeley Hair Clinic is an award-winning UK hair restoration clinic with a surgical headquarters at 132 Harley Street and specialist surgical centres in other parts of the UK.

Our surgical team brings together experience from more than 20,000 hair transplant procedures. The faculty includes doctors with experience across FUE and FUT surgery, male and female hair restoration, donor management, hairline design, complex treatment planning and the delivery of natural-looking results.

Training takes place within a working specialist clinic. This allows delegates to understand not only the surgical procedure itself, but the complete patient pathway, from initial assessment and treatment planning through to surgery, aftercare and long-term follow-up.

What makes the Berkeley approach different?

Learn the clinical reasoning

Understand not only what happens during a procedure, but why decisions are made and how the surgical plan should be adapted to each patient.

Observe real patient journeys

Selected programmes provide exposure to live hair transplant cases, subject to patient consent and clinical availability.

Limited delegate numbers

Private shadowing is delivered one-to-one, while practical programmes operate with deliberately limited numbers to protect the quality of education and patient care.

Develop technical & aesthetic understanding

Explore donor-area assessment, hairline design, follicular direction, density planning, extraction strategy, graft handling and recipient-site planning.

Learn within a doctor-led clinic

Training is delivered by qualified doctors and experienced members of Berkeley Hair Clinic's surgical faculty.

Continue beyond introductory theory

Progress from a Foundation Day to private observation, intensive practical skills development or an individually designed extended programme.

Dr Dayah previously led the acclaimed Mayfair Hair Clinic, and its training academy, and has trained numerous hair restoration surgeons that have advanced to the forefront of the industry. Dr Dayah leads by innovation — he was one of the first hair restoration surgeons in the country to utilise sapphire instruments in hair restoration. The Medical Director Private Shadowing provides doctors with one-to-one access to Dr Dayah's approach throughout a live hair restoration case, including the decisions made before, during and after surgery. Dr Dayah believes that to excel in hair restoration we need to consider not just the surgery itself, but everything around the client's journey.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous hair transplant experience?

No previous experience is required for the Foundation Day or Private Surgical Shadowing. Applications for the Five-Day Intensive and Bespoke Programmes are reviewed according to the doctor's existing experience, objectives and proposed level of practical participation.

Is the Academy only for surgeons?

The Academy is for qualified medical doctors. You do not need a formal surgical specialty qualification to apply for the Foundation Day or observational programmes. Practical participation is assessed separately.

Can international doctors apply?

Yes. Internationally registered doctors may apply for group education, private observation, case-planning workshops and simulation-based training. Only doctors who satisfy UK registration, licensing, indemnity and governance requirements may participate in the clinical treatment of a patient.

Am I guaranteed to observe a particular type of case?

No. Live cases depend on clinical scheduling, patient suitability and patient consent. Please explain any specific exposure you are seeking on your application; it cannot be guaranteed unless agreed in writing.

Will I be allowed to perform part of a procedure?

Observation programmes do not ordinarily include performing surgical stages. The Five-Day Intensive may include supervised participation appropriate to your eligibility and readiness. Practical participation is never guaranteed and remains subject to faculty approval and patient consent.

Can I bring my own patient for a supervised procedure?

This may be considered as part of an approved Bespoke Training Programme. The patient must undergo Berkeley's normal clinical assessment, and registration, indemnity, supervision, consent, documentation and follow-up must all be agreed before the procedure.

Where does the training take place?

Training is delivered at selected Berkeley Hair Clinic surgical centres. The location depends on the programme, faculty member, clinical schedule and available cases, and is confirmed before booking.

Are the programme fees refundable?

The applicable cancellation, transfer and refund terms are provided before you confirm your place.

Will I always train with Dr Dayah?

The Medical Director Private Shadowing is specifically delivered with Dr Kieran Dayah. Other programmes may be delivered by Dr Dayah and/or selected members of the surgical faculty depending on the programme, objectives, location and availability.
